Events

What events/competitions can we offer the junior golfer - at whatever age or ability?

Throughout the year we run a large number of events (minimum of 25 and realistically many more if including basic stablefords & medals!!) for juniors. We have competitions from as little as 3 holes (for the very young) played from short-course 'blue' tees, through 9 hole competitions for the slightly older, to the large events such as the Manor Masters (Junior Open) - and everything in between. Our aim is to keep the young golfers busy with coaching, skills training and competitions to maintain motivation and enthusiasm. It is not feasible to provide details of all competitions in full but a  summary list of the more major competitions is available by clicking here.

Our Manor Masters (Junior Open) continues to grow in stature with every year that passes and 2012 will be no exception. We have places for 81 young golfers and an estimated prize fund of £700 with prizes in 3 divisions as well as the main Scratch and Handicap Cups. In addition we run putting and chipping competitions to keep the juniors busy when they've finished their round and had a hearty meal in the clubhouse. We have over 30 'member' helpers to make the day just that bit special. So why not come along and join us at the event - we'll do our best to make you welcome and make your day a memorable one.

We have a tremendous support from the Adult membership for the Junior Section and we do our best to fully integrate the junior members into the Club by organising competitions where the young golfers play with and against the more senior golfers in the Club. In 2010 we introduced the Junior/Lady Challenge and we always enjoy matches with or against the Seniors and also the annual match against the staff (green-keepers, management, catering staff etc).

We continue to strive to be one of the most 'family-friendly' golf clubs in the South of England !!
